Youth Sports Conference

The top 100, male and female, athletes from neighboring Dallas high schools will have the opportunity to interact with leading sports professionals from the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Led by NBA Champion Alonzo Mourning and ESPN Rise, the Youth Sports Conference will provide a forum for students and panelists to establish a dialogue and exchange key messages about discipline, education, and the importance of social responsibility, while using sports as a platform.
Panelists, represented by various sectors of the sports industry including current and former players, sports marketing and media professionals, among others, will also share their stories and know-how, applicable to all aspects of life.
The conference will feature a main panel discussion, three (3) breakout sessions that include topics such as transitioning from school to professional sports, respecting relationships, and need-to-know subject matters related to the consequences of sex and drugs.ABOUT EMMETT J. CONRAD HIGH SCHOOL
Emmett J. Conrad High School is a public school located in Dallas, Texas which covers grades 9-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. The high school was built in 2006 and is named after Dr. Emmett J. Conrad, the first black man elected to the DISD board of trustees. Emmett J. Conrad High School is designed more like a community college than a high school. Constructed on a sloping site with four levels of classrooms and three-stories, the school is situated amid spacious surroundings. The building lends a unique architectural presence to the community it serves. The building has about 330,000 square feet and 46 core classrooms. In addition, there are special classrooms for science, instructional technology, performing arts, and visual arts; a state-of-the art computer room for graphic design; media center; gymnasium; cafeteria and food service area; and administration and guidance offices. A special feature of the high school is a full-service restaurant in which students can train for careers in food and hospitality services, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
